Posted by Richard McKeon on Jul 12, 2017 10:00:00 AM

Whether or not you live in an area where vehicle safety inspections are required, this one service provides your automotive repair shop with a number of benefits as you build trust and relationships with your customers.

The Arguments for and Against Paying Technicians for Automotive Training

Posted by Richard McKeon on Jun 21, 2017 10:00:00 AM

Should an automotive service repair shop owner pay his or her technicians for training?

It’s an interesting question. Some owners say, yes, absolutely. Others disagree. It really boils down to what is best for your automotive service repair shop, taking a number of things into consideration.

For owners on the paying side of the argument, many believe time spent training is on behalf of the shop. Technicians and service writers attending the automotive training are representing your shop, so they should be compensated.

On the other side, some owners argue that technicians and service writers attend automotive service repair training to better themselves. They need to improve their craft and have a desire to improve their skillsets for the betterment of their careers. They should want to be there to learn and become a better automotive professional.

Posted by Richard McKeon on Jun 13, 2017 11:56:12 AM

Several traditional auto parts suppliers are forming new partnerships with technology companies to help them prepare for infotainment offerings in vehicles and for automated driving.

While it will be many years before fully autonomous vehicles (AVs) appear in showrooms, some of the automated driving features that are going into vehicles now are laying the groundwork for the AVs of the future.

Traditional auto parts providers not only are aware of this trend, but also in many cases are leading the trend by installing new technology in their vehicles. Some of this new technology is the result of partnerships between traditional parts providers and technology companies.
